Supporting Meshuggah in May

We’re very glad to announce that we will be main support for Meshuggah on their Scandinavian tour in May. Swarm (feat. Disfear/ex-Entombed members) will join on the Swedish shows. Heavy it will be.

“Sole Creation” out in February 2013

KONGH have revealed the cover, track listing and a 7 minute audio sample of their new full-length album entitled Sole Creation. The album will be coming to shops on the 5th of February in Europe and 19th February in North Amercia. It will get released by Agonia Records on CD/LP/Digital.

Sole Creation – the 3rd album from the doom metal trio – will consist of 4 new tracks and 45 minutes of music, with a guest appearance of John Doe from Craft. The album was recorded at Teknikkompaniet (Vetlanda,
Sweden) by Peter Lundin; mixed and mastered by Magnus Lindberg of Cult Of Luna fame. KONGH’s front-man, David Johansson, commented:

“After a very long time of hard work, this album is finally ready for release. We couldn’t be more happy with the way it turned out and I really think it is the best Kongh material so far. For our old fans, I am pretty sure it will be well worth the wait and I also think it holds great potential to satisfy a bunch of new listeners. In my opinion, the album is more dynamic and has much more emphasis on melodies than our previous works. At the same time it maintains the harshness and it’s undoubtedly the heaviest slab of metal we’ve done as well.”

Ready for studio

In just a few days – August 6th – we will start recording our new album. We will do our best to keep you updated on the progress, so keep an eye either on this site or our Facebook page for photos, videos and whatnot.

In other news: We will play a show in Stockholm on October 27th supporting the almighty Electric Wizard. The venue is Stora Nalen and tickets will be for sale soon. Studio update

Some news on the upcoming album: we will not work with Karl Daniel Lidén as previously stated (the reason being unforeseen schedule problems). Instead, we will work with Magnus Lindberg, who will take care of the mixing and mastering as well as co-engineering at the recording sessions. Being a member of the band Cult Of Luna, his summary of work includes all of their albums, as well as several more by other bands, too many to mention here.

All the recordings will take place in August, at Teknikkompaniet in Vetlanda, Sweden.

Kongh signs to Agonia Records

We are glad to announce that we just inked a new record deal with Agonia Records. We will start recording our new album at the end of the summer and it will be released worldwide in early 2013. Here is the full statement from Agonia concerning the signing:

“It is with great pleasure Agonia Records welcome Doom Metal outfit KONGH to the label’s roster.

This relatively new band, formed back in 2004, has quickly risen amongst the ranks of Swedish acts worth watching, being nominated to the P3 Guld Award (Swedish equivalent of the Grammy Awards) for their debut album. After a successful and intense tour with critically acclaimed YOB in September and October of 2011, KONGH focused on writing their 3rd to date album: yet untitled and expected for early 2013.

The band has issued the following statement regarding the new deal and upcoming release:

Three years have passed since our last album was released, and we’re stoked to announce that the song writing for a whole new album is now finalized. We’ll skip the in-depth details for now since it’s nearly possible to give a sensible description of your own music, but there’s definitely some new twists and dimensions there as well as the traditional Kongh riffage. One thing we can say for sure is that we’re very enthusiastic about the songs and we cannot wait to enter the studio! It will happen at the end of the summer, with Karl Daniel Lidén (Dozer, Switchblade) in the engineering seat. Another thing we’re happy about is the new record deal with Agonia Records. We’ve been in touch with them for well over a year now, and while we’ve had a few offers from different labels, Agonia was the one which seemed to suit us best. Our expectations are high and we’re sure this will turn out great.”

Work in progress

First of all, thanks to everybody who showed up to the shows on our recent tour together with Yob and Dark Castle. We had a great tour!
At the moment we’re working very hard on new material, preparing to record our next album after the winter with engineer Karl Daniel Lidén (Dozer, Switchblade, Vaka) and release it on CD/LP later in 2012. More info to follow!
