Dissolved in Time is a prime slab of monumental doom, spliced with an expressive heart. Kongh's music can move mountains, but it can also spread far and wide with evocative colours and absorbing textures. Very highly recommended.
This is a fantastic record. The music and the blood-red artwork undeniably give Dissolved in Time an enormous sense of weight and presence. It is a monumental comeback, and I realize just how much I have missed Kongh on the Swedish underground scene. A scene they will also reclaim on January 30th next year, when they return as a live band. A clear contender for my album of the year list.
A continuation of the important impact the band had when it first came thundering into the scene with their debut in 2007. The immense heaviness, hypnotic repetitions, the long songs, the emotional and varied vocals, combined with the powerful drums and rumbling bass. It is all there, exactly what so many have been waiting for.
Dissolved in Time flows like thick lava with churning guitars and a bowel shaking bass groove. Getting musical instruments to sound like this is an amazing feat. If you've never experienced the might of Kongh, I strongly urge you to seek them out.
This is a masterclass of modern Doom/Sludge Metal.

Kongh was formed in Småland, Sweden in 2004. Between 2007 and 2013 the band released three critically acclaimed albums that established them as one of Sweden's most distinctive voices in heavy music, building a devoted international following through extensive touring alongside acts such as Meshuggah and YOB before entering an extended hiatus.
Kongh now re-emerges with a record that does not attempt to replicate the past, but instead continues and sharpens it. Based on ideas accumulated over the last decade and developed over six months of intensive work, the new album is a focused continuation of the band's established sound, rooted in its signature blend of crushing heaviness, vast atmosphere and hypnotic repetition, while incorporating electronics, layered textures and some of the most ambitious compositions in Kongh's history.
The album was written and recorded under the direction of founding member David Johansson, who performed guitars, bass, electronics and lead vocals while also handling the mixing process. Drawing on years of experience gained both within Kongh and through his time as a touring guitarist for Cult of Luna between 2013 and 2019, Johansson shaped a record that is both deeply personal and structurally expansive.
Joining him on the record are Christian Augustin (Cult of Luna, Totalt Jävla Mörker) on drums and Jörgen Sandström (Grave, Entombed) on backing vocals.
Rather than functioning as a reunion in the nostalgic sense, Kongh's fourth album stands as a continuation — a record shaped by absence, persistence and renewal. It reconnects with the foundations of the band while presenting its most focused and fully realized expression to date.
